and it's changing every day

I've got no more time to put these fears aside
A memory of the streetlamps
And reflections in the light

Only something of that night
Oh so many weeks and months and years it may have been
It's just a blurry picture now, in only black and white
I feel like everything is gone
I see the breaking of the dawn

The hands of science weaving future for us all
The threads of generations held within their thrall
There’s no direction, repercussion for decay
With this great tapestry the threads begin to fray
Through centuries of dedication with their hands up to the sky
The fate of their imagination holding lives inside their eyes
I know I'll never see what lies along the road
I'll never know what will become of seeds we've sown
All we can do is just prepare them for their time
To build a better world when all these birds have flown
And so we dedicate our lives to serve a future cause
We save and slave away just trying not to fall
We lay foundations for our children then to build upon
A lasting aspiration that our tower will stand tall
What will we become? Our daughters and sons?
We pass them the flame, will they remember your name?

As the rain and clouds align, we hear the storm
The thunder rolls
The lightning shakes the sky
The thunder calls you to your home
Through the clouds, behind the hills
All at once the sky is filled
A golden hour, a burning light
Just keep it burning through the night
A shadow hangs over your door
Just cast it off and breathe once more
And just because the sun is gone
You will see another dawn
As the rainfall crashes down, and washes all the life away
With nothing left to grow, and no one left to see
The thunder rolls
As all this starts again
The thunder heralds a new dawn

The stars are all extinguished
And the sky is black and cold
The sun is but a memory
Of fire and shining gold
As we walk into the twilight
With no spark to light the way
Just remember now to keep your course
At the dying of the day
The road that lays before you
The horizon in your sights
May look like that behind you,
in the shadow of the night
But let yourself go on now
And follow every star
For every star’s a rising sun
And the light has travelled far
When the earth comes round again
Will you be holding the flame?
Or will you be someone who couldn’t take the pain?
The fire it keeps smouldering
Just waiting for the fuel
